Answers to Your Most Common Questions
Everything you need to know before starting an Odoo project with Sapient365 — timelines, cost, scope, support, and more.
Odoo Implementation
How long does an Odoo implementation take?
Timeline depends on scope. A basic implementation (2–4 modules, small team) typically takes 4–8 weeks. A mid-size business with multiple departments, custom workflows, and data migration usually takes 3–5 months. Large enterprise rollouts can take 6–12 months. We define a clear timeline in the project proposal before work begins.
What does Odoo implementation include?
A standard Odoo implementation from Sapient365 includes:
- Requirements analysis and business process mapping
- Odoo installation, configuration, and module setup
- Data migration from existing systems or spreadsheets
- Custom workflows, reports, and access rights
- User training (functional and admin)
- Go-live support and handover documentation
Do you implement Odoo Community or Enterprise?
We implement both. Odoo Community is free and open source — suitable for businesses that want to keep software costs low and do not need Enterprise-only features. Odoo Enterprise includes additional modules (full accounting, manufacturing, payroll, IoT, mobile app) and Odoo Enterprise-level support. We help you choose the right edition based on your budget and needs.
Which Odoo version do you work with?
We work with Odoo 17, 18, and 19. For new projects, we recommend the latest stable version. If you are already on an older version, we can support your current setup and plan a migration when you are ready.
Cost & Pricing
How much does Odoo implementation cost?
Cost depends on scope — modules needed, number of users, amount of customization, and data migration complexity. A small business implementation can start from $2,000–$5,000. Mid-size projects typically range from $8,000–$30,000. Enterprise-level rollouts can be significantly higher. We provide a detailed, fixed-price proposal after a free scoping discussion.
Do you charge for the Odoo software itself?
Odoo Community is free (open source). Our fee covers implementation, configuration, customization, and support. Odoo Enterprise requires a subscription paid directly to Odoo SA (based on number of users and apps). We can help you estimate that cost and manage the subscription on your behalf if needed.
Do you offer monthly support plans?
Yes. After go-live, we offer monthly support retainers that cover bug fixes, functional queries, small enhancements, user help, and performance checks. Retainer plans are flexible and priced by number of hours per month. We also offer pay-per-ticket support for businesses with occasional needs.
Customization & Integration
Can Odoo be customized to match our exact workflows?
Yes. Odoo is highly customizable. We can add custom fields, views, workflows, approval flows, automated actions, reports, dashboards, and entirely new modules. Our approach is to first configure standard Odoo to match your workflow, and only build custom code where standard functionality cannot meet the need. This keeps your system maintainable and upgrade-ready.
Can you integrate Odoo with our existing tools?
Yes. We integrate Odoo with a wide range of systems including payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal, bank APIs), eCommerce platforms, shipping providers, CRM tools, accounting software, Power BI, custom APIs, and legacy databases. If your tool has an API, we can typically connect it to Odoo.
Will customizations break during an Odoo upgrade?
Custom code written to Odoo's API standards is generally forward-portable, but version upgrades do require testing and porting of custom modules. We build all customizations with clean, documented code to minimize upgrade effort. We also offer version upgrade services to port your custom modules when you are ready to move to a new Odoo version.
Migration & Upgrade
Can you migrate our data from another ERP to Odoo?
Yes. We migrate data from spreadsheets, QuickBooks, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, Tally, and other legacy systems. Migration typically covers customers, vendors, products, opening balances, inventory, and historical records. We run multiple test migrations before go-live to validate accuracy.
We are on Odoo 16. Can you upgrade us to Odoo 18 or 19?
Yes. Odoo version upgrades involve upgrading the database, porting custom modules, retesting integrations, and validating all workflows. We plan the upgrade carefully, run a staging environment first, and only go live after your team confirms everything works correctly. Upgrades can be done without losing your historical data.
Support & Training
Do you provide training for our team after go-live?
Yes. Training is included in all implementation projects. We provide role-based training — separate sessions for end users, managers, accountants, and administrators. Training is delivered live via video call and we provide written guides and recordings for future reference. Standalone training packages are also available for teams already using Odoo.
What happens after the project is delivered?
All projects include a post-go-live warranty period (typically 30 days) where we fix any bugs at no extra cost. After the warranty period, you can continue with a monthly support retainer or contact us on a per-issue basis. We remain available for improvements, new modules, integrations, and upgrades as your business grows.
Do you work with clients remotely?
Yes — 100% of our projects are delivered remotely. We work with international clients via video calls, shared documentation, staging servers, and screen-sharing sessions. Remote delivery has no impact on quality — we handle complex enterprise projects entirely online.
