One of the first decisions when starting an Odoo project is choosing between Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise. Both run the same core ERP framework, but they differ in available modules, support, and cost.
What Is Odoo Community?
Odoo Community is the free, open-source version of Odoo. It includes core modules: CRM, Sales, Inventory, Purchase, Accounting, Manufacturing, Projects, HR, and Website. Community is a good choice when your requirements are covered by standard modules and you want to keep software costs low.
What Is Odoo Enterprise?
Odoo Enterprise is a paid subscription from Odoo SA. It adds Payroll, full Accounting (IFRS/GAAP reports), Field Service, Marketing Automation, eSign, IoT, Studio, and the Odoo Mobile App. Enterprise is a better fit when you need advanced compliance, mobile access, or Odoo.sh managed hosting.
Cost Comparison
Community has zero software licensing cost. Your costs are hosting, implementation, and support. Enterprise is priced per user per app per month. A 10-user business using CRM, Sales, Inventory, and Accounting might pay $300–$500 per month depending on apps selected.
Which Should You Choose?
There is no single correct answer. We help clients evaluate both options based on module requirements, team size, budget, and long-term growth plan. A business running a trading operation with 15 users often does very well on Community. A professional services firm needing payroll, timesheets, and expense management often gets better value from Enterprise.
